  • Know how to read an electrical diagram.
  • Understand how a complete electrical system works.
  • Optimise troubleshooting based on diagram analysis.

Program

1. CHECKS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON SENSORS AND ACTUATORS
  • Role of sensors.
  • Active and passive sensors.
  • Position sensors: Potentiometric sensors – rheostats.
  • Temperature sensors: PTC – NTC.
  • Speed sensors: Induction – Hall effect / Magneto-resistive.
  • Position sensors: On/Off (ON/OFF) – PNP, NPN, ILS.
  • Analogue or digital position sensors: Encoders – LVDT – Magneto-resistive – Ultra-sonic (piezoelectric).
  • Angle sensors.
  • Wound/piezoelectric actuators.
2. METHODS FOR READING AND ANALYSING DIAGRAMS
  • Symbolisation – Reading diagrams – Analysing operating phases (circuit logic) – Simplifying an electrical diagram.
  • Standardisation: Symbols – Standards from different manufacturers.
  • Identification of multiplexed networks.
3. DIAGNOSTIC METHODOLOGY APPLICABLE TO VARIOUS SYSTEMS
  • Identifying and checking the components of an electrical circuit using a multimeter.
  • Searching for the documentation needed for an operation.
  • Diagnostic using the manufacturer’s electrical diagrams.
  • On-vehicle diagnostic of faults linked to CAN BUS multiplexing.
4. PRACTICAL FAULT-FINDING EXERCISES ON MACHINES OR SIMULATORS

PLEASE NOTE: You may need to be accredited, depending on the electrical characteristics of your mobile machinery.
ESSENTIAL: Trainees must bring:
ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS of their machines
