At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:
- Know how to read an electrical diagram.
- Understand how a complete electrical system works.
- Optimise troubleshooting based on diagram analysis.
Program
1. CHECKS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON SENSORS AND ACTUATORS
- Role of sensors.
- Active and passive sensors.
- Position sensors: Potentiometric sensors – rheostats.
- Temperature sensors: PTC – NTC.
- Speed sensors: Induction – Hall effect / Magneto-resistive.
- Position sensors: On/Off (ON/OFF) – PNP, NPN, ILS.
- Analogue or digital position sensors: Encoders – LVDT – Magneto-resistive – Ultra-sonic (piezoelectric).
- Angle sensors.
- Wound/piezoelectric actuators.
2. METHODS FOR READING AND ANALYSING DIAGRAMS
- Symbolisation – Reading diagrams – Analysing operating phases (circuit logic) – Simplifying an electrical diagram.
- Standardisation: Symbols – Standards from different manufacturers.
- Identification of multiplexed networks.
3. DIAGNOSTIC METHODOLOGY APPLICABLE TO VARIOUS SYSTEMS
- Identifying and checking the components of an electrical circuit using a multimeter.
- Searching for the documentation needed for an operation.
- Diagnostic using the manufacturer’s electrical diagrams.
- On-vehicle diagnostic of faults linked to CAN BUS multiplexing.
4. PRACTICAL FAULT-FINDING EXERCISES ON MACHINES OR SIMULATORS
PLEASE NOTE: You may need to be accredited, depending on the electrical characteristics of your mobile machinery.
ESSENTIAL: Trainees must bring:
ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS of their machines
MULTIMETER
